Starting from the idea of a cocoon, we imagined silk threads winding and weaving around us. As we stretched and curled our bodies, it felt as if we were weaving a piece of silk together. Led by our fingertips, the torso reached out along an imaginary Silk Road, creating flowing lines in the space. This was a practice of shape, a journey to explore our resilience, and a chance to savour the essence of cultural heritage.
With a quick turn, we transformed into soft clay, and experimented with different shapes to see how our bodies moved and held tension. Taking inspiration from traditional posture and footwork, we travelled back in time to the Qing Dynasty imperial court. We acted out the steady power of a high-ranking official and the graceful movements of a palace lady. Through these contemporary steps, the spirit of historical figures was awakened once more.
